Reserve Materials
The reserve materials service is available in support of the curriculum at all campus sites. The guidelines are the same for all campuses except where noted.
- Materials may be used for a period of three hours with a valid DCCC ID and must remain in the library at all times.
- Materials are placed on reserve by filling out a Reserve Request Form for each item. Paper forms are available and accepted at all locations. This electronic Reserve Form is also available for the main library and can be found on the Library tab in delaGATE.
- If you will be teaching the same class as in a previous semester, you may generate a list of items to be placed on reserve again that includes title, author, and edition or date of publication. The list can be submitted to the library with only one copy of the reserve form.
- We recommend one copy of each reserve item per 25 students in the class. Please submit the form to the circulation desk coordinator to ensure proper processing. Requests are processed in the order they are received.
- Please submit your requests as soon as possible to allow up to five days for processing.
Library owned materials - Most library owned materials may be placed on reserve. Reference materials may not be placed on reserve and video materials are already held on reserve. If a video is needed for a specific date, please fill out a non-print request form. Reserved materials are placed on the shelf for no more than two consecutive semesters (Fall-Spring or Summer I-Summer II) as per Title 17, United States Code. At the end of the second semester, library owned materials will be removed and placed back into circulation.
Photocopies - The Library does not put journals on reserve but accepts photocopies of articles instead. Due to copyright restrictions the library cannot make photocopies for you. We call your attention to the following library policy governing the making of photocopies: Title 17, United States Code, governs the reproduction of copyrighted material. In accepting photocopies for reserve, the DCCC Library assumes that the copy or copies have been made in compliance with the Fair Use Provisions of Section 107. This copyright law is posted at the circulation desk. If photocopied articles are to placed on reserve, binding material must be provided for them (i.e. binder or manila folder). The library does not provide binders or folders. We request that pages be numbered.
Textbooks - If you do not have an extra copy of the currently used textbook to be placed on reserve, you may request that the textbook be purchased by the library for student use only. At the beginning of each semester, textbooks are reviewed for currency. Textbooks that are no longer current are selectively placed in the circulating collection according to the collection development plan.
Personal items - Personal items may be placed on reserve under your name. Please do not put the only copy of your material on reserve. It is advisable to make a list of personal items placed on reserve for the library and to retain a copy for yourself. The library is not responsible for loss or damage of personal items. Unless these items are gifts to the library, they will be returned at the close of each semester. Please indicate where the items should be sent at the end of a semester. If no location is given, items will be sent through inter-office mail to the department secretary.
