In the spirit of the season…

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

There is an opportunity for you to give to fellow students and at the same time enter a raffle for some NICE prizessuch as the “Sports Phanatic” package (includes tickets, cap, and t-shirt)  ”healthy you” package, “holiday entertaining” package, “traditional reader” package, etc

The 2008 DCCC Book Fund Raffle is going on now. This raffle raises money for the DCCC Textbook fund, which is used to purchase textbooks for students in need. The books are then returned and re-used the following semester whenever possible. Consider helping by purchasing a raffle ticket. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Library Director Karen Rege will accept your donation or you can go directly to the Campus Life Office in room 2518. They can show you a list of these exceptional raffle prizes! Drawing will be held on December 18th. Happy Holidays! (mg)

More help with work cited!

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

The feature that allows users to create a list of books from the DCCC Libary Online Catalog is now functioning, thanks to the technical expertise of Craig Ross (Library/ACS). Even better, the book citations can be saved to a list in MLA format and then emailed to the user. Actually, just as in the case of Ebsco’s work cited suggestions for journals and magazines (see blog entry from 9/23/08 at library.dccc.edu), the MLA format needs a bit of tweaking to be accurate. For example, entries will have to be double spaced and the “c” removed from the publication year. But it is a great head start for just making list of possible entries for work cited and then for the actual works cited page in MLA style. Progress! (mg)
