Biology Department FAQ
Can I major in Biology?
Students interested in Biology should register as Natural
Science majors (NSCI). In addition to Bio 1 & 2, Botany, Zoology and Microbiology
will fulfill NSCI laboratory science requirements and assist the student
who wishes to transfer to another institution to pursue biology.
Does Delaware County Community College offer Microbiology?
The College offers a 4 credit Microbiology course in the
Fall, Spring and Summer sessions. The course is designed for students
in the Natural Science and Science for the Health Professions (HSCI) curricula.
Should I major in Natural Science (NSCI) or Science for the Health
Professions (HSCI)?
The choice of a major depends on the requirements of the
transfer institution you plan to attend. Compare the requirements of your
transfer Institution with our NSCI and HSCI curricula.
Will Anatomy and Physiology (Bio 117 & 118) count toward an Associates
Degree in Natural Science (NSCI)?
No, Bio 117 & 118 are designed for students in Allied
Health fields, not Natural Science. Both courses will apply to the Science
for the Health Professions curriculum.
