Phi Theta Kappa recognizes and encourages scholarship and leadership among community college students. Phi Theta Kappa sponsors many educational and community service activities each year.

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is the recognition and encouragement of scholarship among community/junior college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Student Government Association (SGA)

SGA holds its general meetings every Thursday from 11:05 am to Noon in RM 2277 ('A' Building, Main Campus). Feel free to attend to find out if SGA is right for you!

Students with at least a 2.0 GPA are welcome to join SGA throughout the semester. For more information or an application, please stop by the SGA Office, room 2504 right by the student lounge, or stop by the Campus Life Office, room 2518.

WDCR Radio Station
D.J. in DCCC's radio station The campus radio station, operated by DCCC students, is located in the student lounge in 2512. Announcers and production staff are always needed by the station, which broadcasts in the student lounge. This is a great opportunity for students interested in going into broadcasting or communications. Training is available to students interested in technical positions, program positions, or DJ positions. If you are interested in joining WDCR and have at least a 2.0 GPA, please stop by Campus Life Office.

Pegasus Magazine

Whether your field of interest is communications or nursing, Pegasus is an excellent opportunity for you to have your work published. Pegasus is written and produced by the student body, yearly. Any individual interested in submitting work should contact the Campus Life Office. There is a need for poems, short stories, photography, and artwork.

Communitarian

DCCC's student newspaper was unveiled in the Fall 2001. Students enrolled in Fundamentals of Journalism II, with the direction of Bonnie McMeans, published the first edition in November 2001. The Communitarian is a classroom project for students in Fundamentals of Journalism II, Eng. 131. Talented, hardworking, and dependable students who would like to see their work in print and to learn more about journalism in general should register for Eng. 131.
