College Activities Program
Mission Statement
The Campus Life Office will promote community and student development by supporting a College Activities Program that enriches the overall collegiate experience of students. The program will support the College's commitment to General Education: "a comprehensive effort that encourages in individual students the attitude of inquiry, the skills of problem solving, and attention to community values associated with a democratic society (and) seeks to impart knowledge, skills, and values so that the student may maintain the learning process over a lifetime and function as a self-fulfilled individual."
The program will demonstrate this commitment to General Education through the collaborative efforts of students, faculty, and staff in developing programs that complement classroom experiences and provide opportunities for social interaction and the development of skills outside the classroom. The program includes traditional clubs and organizations, intercollegiate athletics, sport activities, and recreational activities, as well as non-traditional co-curricular and co-sponsored cultural programs, student theatre, student leadership training programs, community service programs, multicultural awareness programs, and other student development programs that are designed to promote the intellectual, social, and emotional growth and well-being of students.
