Comcast Executive to Speak on Campus Nov. 18 at 11 a.m.
The Student Business Society will host James McCue, Vice President and Assistant Treasurer of Comcast Corporation.
McCue will speak about his experiences managing Comcast's finances and related corporate activities. Alumni are invited to attend but asked to RSVP as seating is limited. Please send an email to email@example.com for more details.

"Shark Tank" participant to speak to on campus Nov. 25 at 11 a.m.
Shark Tank participant Chris Gray will be speaking to all interested students. Gray has received over $1.3 million in academic scholarships, he is a local venture capitalist, and founder of Scholly, a best selling scholarship app for mobile devices (www.myscholly.com). He will be discussing entrepreneurship and business start ups, including how to find an idea, how to gain traction, funding and become successful. Alumni are invited to attend but asked to RSVP as seating is limited.

Alumni Mentors Needed
The Alumni Association is always seeking successful graduates who may have the time to mentor or work with current students looking to make the most of their education from the College. Our new program, CAMP (Career Alumni Mentoring Program) pairs students with alumni within their desired career fields for a one time, thirty minute meeting during the course of a semester. LinkedIn Live Workshop
This interactive session will provide a general overview of the profile development, job search strategies and networking capabilities available free of charge through the LinkedIn website. Alumni are invited to attend this free workshop in conjunction with the PA Workforce Development Center on the Marple Campus but need to register via email (email@example.com) in advance. Fall Job Fest - Thursday, October 9
The office of Student Employment Services and Co-Op Center will host their annual fall job fest for students and graduates to meet with recruiters to learn about local career opportunities.
The event will be held Thursday, October 9, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the lobbies of the STEM and Advanced Technology Center on the Marple Campus. The positions reflect various majors/fields including business, healthcare, culinary, hotel/restaurant management, administration of justice, information technology, HVAC and manufacturing. Employers are located in Delaware, Chester and Montgomery counties.

Alumni Association Meeting - September 24
The Alumni Association will meet on Wednesday, September 24, at The Springfield Country Club at the outdoor conversation pit overlooking the golf course beginning at 6 p.m.

Airplane Repo Season 2 Premiere Party - August 22
Come and hang out with Ken Cage '98 for the season two premiere of his Discovery Channel TV show Airplane Repo. The party will be held Friday, August 22, 2014 at Barnaby's of America in Ridley (2107 MacDade Blvd, Holmes, PA) at 9 p.m.

14th Annual Lou Scott Golf Classic
The College hosted the Annual Lou Scott Golf Classic on Tuesday, June 3, at The Golf Course at Glen Mills. Proceeds from the outing funded the Louis W. Scott III Memorial Scholarship, which honors the memory of the former principal of Penncrest High School. The outing has provided 61 scholarships to students of the College since 2001. Alumni Baseball Ceremony
The Athletics Office and Alumni Office hosted a small ceremony and social event during a home baseball game on April 24, 2014, on the Marple Campus. The team will be dedicating their dugouts to two former players, Dennis Ryan ‘71 and Richard Armes ‘73, who passed away in 2013. Phi Theta Kappa spring 2014 Induction
The Alpha Tau Epsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recently inducted over 95 new members into their group on March 11. Former chapter President Celeste Harmer '10 delivered the keynote address to an audience of new members, family, friends and faculty from the college. Dr. Virginia Carter, Provost for the College, received an award from current chapter President Meghan Flinn for her years of support during her tenure. The Alumni Association hosted a meet and greet for local graduates on Thursday, January 9, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Iron Hill Brewery (30 E. State Street) in Media. Come out for an evening of networking and discussion as we plan activities for the upcoming year.

The Alumni Association was in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, November 7, and met with several with local alumni after work. Thank you to those who came out and we hope to meet more of you in the future.
"Airplane Repo" Q&A Session
Ken Cage '98 was on hand for a question and answer session with current students and alumni on Tuesday, October 29, in the Large Auditorium on the Marple Campus. Attendees heard all about Ken's work with the Discovery Channel series which recently ended its first season run. Ken and his team are anxiously awaiting word on Season 2 from the Discovery Channel and we wish him the best of luck.
45th Anniversary Celebration
For Delaware County Community College, there is no better way to celebrate an anniversary than to showcase successful alumni. The 45th anniversary event was held at Harrah’s Philadelphia on September 28. Continuing a tradition begun at the 35th anniversary celebration in 2002 when 35 alumni were selected as “Star Alumni,” five additional alumni were honored at the 45th anniversary event and prior to that at the 40th anniversary.
Lunch and Learn - Distinguished Alumni to discuss Colorado Tragedy
The Alumni Association for Delaware County Community College hosted a Lunch and Learn conference on July 31 to discuss the recent events taking place in Aurora, Colorado. This call is free and open to all alumni who would like to participate in the discussion and subsequent Q&A session, but space is limited.
The Alumni Association has arranged for three distinguished local law enforcement professionals to share their experiences as they relate to the events currently unfolding in Colorado. The panel will include:
- Bob Downey '74- Former Assistant Special Agent in Charge-Philadelphia FBI and 2011 Alumni Professional Award winner
- Dr. Robert Boyden '84- Executive Advisory Board Member, International Society of Forensic Examiners and 2012 STAR Alumni Award recipient
- John Bailey '97- Magisterial District Court Judge at Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and current Alumni Association web profile
Our discussions will include a brief outline of investigative procedures, forensics and evidence collection as well as what is involved in managing a trial of this magnitude with extensive media coverage. We are sure there are many questions out there and it is our goal to present an informed discussion in a controlled setting.
Alumni Baseball Game
The Alumni Office hosted a baseball game between past and present players at Frawley Stadium, home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks. In all, 21 alumni and current players participated in a seven inning game which was a great time for players to see if they could still swing the bat. Afterwards, players, family and friends met in the parking lot for an informal tailgate party hosted by alum Kevin Bruton '84 and his company, Purple Picnic People. Alumni are a vital asset to Delaware County Community College and current students, and can make immeasurable contributions to the College by providing personal and corporate testimonials that can help inspire and motivate our community.
One such presentation was delivered by members of West Chester-based Schramm, Inc. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. The event featured Jeff Roten, Delaware County Community College Alumnus and Schramm-man-on-the-ground at the rescue dig site of the Chili mine collapse, and Bruce D. Mackay, Product Support Manager, Schramm is a West-Chester based drilling-equipment company that played a major role in the rescue of 33 Chilean miners this past October.
Roten, a former Delaware County Community College student, studied Mechanical Systems at the College in 2006 and was presented the 2010 Honorary Alumni Award for his efforts in the rescue and recovery operation. More than 100 faculty, students, Alumni and guests listened to details of the delicate operation to bring the 33 miners back to the surface two months ahead of schedule leading to one of the most inspiring stories of the year.
