Alumni Baseball Game-September, 2011

This past September, the Alumni Office hosted a baseball game between past and present players at Frawley Stadium, home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks. In all, 21 alumni and current players participated in a seven inning game which was a great time for players to see if they could still swing the bat. Afterwards, players, family and friends met in the parking lot for an informal tailgate party hosted by alum Kevin Bruton '84 and his company, Purple Picnic People. Look for future alumni events similar to this or to send suggestions, please email alumni@dccc.edu.

Alumni Presentations

Alumni are a vital asset to Delaware County Community College and current students, and can make immeasurable contributions to the College by providing personal and corporate testimonials that can help inspire and motivate our community.

One such presentation was delivered by members of West Chester-based Schramm, Inc. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. The event featured Jeff Roten, Delaware County Community College Alumnus and Schramm-man-on-the-ground at the rescue dig site of the Chili mine collapse, and Bruce D. Mackay, Product Support Manager, Schramm is a West-Chester based drilling-equipment company that played a major role in the rescue of 33 Chilean miners this past October.

Roten, a former Delaware County Community College student, studied Mechanical Systems at the College in 2006 and was presented the 2010 Honorary Alumni Award for his efforts in the rescue and recovery operation. More than 100 faculty, students, Alumni and guests listened to details of the delicate operation to bring the 33 miners back to the surface two months ahead of schedule leading to one of the most inspiring stories of the year.
