Spring Term: Monday, February 27 - Friday, May 5, 2017 (10 weeks, about 4 hours of study per week) 40-hour course
This course is designed for individuals with an intermediate level knowledge of written and spoken English. Language teaching is based on actual life situations that students will encounter and gives them the skills they will need to communicate. Grammar, vocabulary reading and writing lessons grow out of the situation and are practiced in realistic situations. The reading lessons revolve around interesting and informative articles, and include vocabulary building activities. The writing lessons teach students about various types of writing, such as personal narratives and opinion pieces. Students are guided through the writing process and are taught skills that will help them write more fluently and accurately.
Students completing this course should be comfortable transitioning to further study in Academic English. This class will be offered for four levels. Student’s placement will depend on the results of the placement test. Students will be issued a certificate upon completion of the course.
