Getting Started

How do I get started?
The application starts your DCCC experience. You can obtain an application from our Admissions office or download it from our website. The Admissions staff will provide you with all the details. They will tell you what records you need and what steps come next.

Do I need to submit my high school transcript?
If you have graduated from high school more than three years ago you do not have to submit a high school transcript. Municipal Police Training, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy and Surgical Technology programs, however, do require transcripts from all applicants regardless of date.

I didn't get my high school diploma or GED. Can I still take classes?
If you have not graduated from high school or received your GED and are 19 years of age or older, we can consider you for enrollment on a part-time basis. Please visit our Special Admissions section website. for more information. Please note that non-high school graduates are not eligible for financial aid.

Do I have to take a placement test? What if I already have a degree?
The placement test allows the College to assess your skills. It is required if you are taking an English or Math class or any classes that have these as prerequisites. If you are pursuing a degree or certificate program you will need the test so it is best to take it early in your college career. If you already have a degree you do not need to take the placement test but will need your transcripts to assure that you are placed in appropriate courses .

I didn't do well in some of my high school classes. Will I be able to attend college?
Yes. DCCC will assess your current skills, by the placement test, and place you in courses that match your level of ability. The College also offers a variety of services to help you succeed.

I only want to take one class. Do I still have to apply?
Everyone applying to our College, whether full-time or part-time, must submit a completed admissions application. If you would feel more comfortable meeting with a member of our Admissions staff to discuss your situation before filing the application, call us at 610.359.5050 for an appointment. We'll be happy to assist you.

Will my credits from another college transfer to DCCC?
Many of the credits that you took at another college may transfer to DCCC. Your transcripts will be reviewed by an evaluator to see which credits will transfer. Even if you took classes many years ago, you may still be able to earn credit for these courses.You will need a copy of your college transcript so we can assist you in selecting appropriate courses

Can I get credit for life or work experience?
Your work or life experiences may have already provided you with college - level learning that is worth college credit. Knowledge gained through travel, the military, volunteer activities or work could all lead to college credit. Investigate credit for prior learning by contacting the Assessment Center website.
