Visiting Students
Delaware County Community College defines “visiting students” as individuals who are matriculated at another college or university but wish to enroll at our College for course work to transfer back to their home institution.
To enroll at our College as a visiting student, please follow these simple steps. It is strongly recommended that you submit all of the paperwork together. Paperwork submitted separately may not get filed together and therefore could delay or hinder registration.Steps 2 through 4 must be completed each semester you plan to attend as a visiting student; step 1 may need to be completed again if it has been a year or longer since you last attended here.
- Complete a Delaware County Community College application for admission.
- Be sure to include a major code in the appropriate space on the application form. Most visiting students list “LA” for Liberal Arts. Applications cannot be processed without a major code. It’s also important to include your citizenship status, high school or GED graduation information and your signature.
- Get a letter from your advisor on school letterhead or a form from your school that authorizes enrollment at our College for the purposes of transferring the credits back to your home institution. It’s important to discuss with your home institution your plans so they can advise you properly to make certain you are following your school’s curriculum.
- Include a note providing the specific course information for the class(es) you wish to enroll, including CRN (course reference #) SUBJ (subject code), CRS (credits), SEC (section), and TITLE (course title).
- Mail all of the above information, together, to:
Delaware County Community College
Admissions Office
901 S. Media Line Road
Media, PA 19063
Or, you may bring all of the information in person to one of our convenient locations: Main Campus in Media, Southeast Center in Sharon Hill, Downingtown Campus, Exton Center or the Pennocks Bridge Campus in Jennersville.
Special Note: Many visiting students continue with us for additional course work. We recommend that you submit an official transcript and transfer your credits to Delaware County Community College. Transferring credits to our College will make registering for classes easier for you, especially, if you plan to register on-line. Many of our classes have pre-requisites and you may have completed those pre-requisites at your home institution. Unless you transfer those pre-requisites to us, you may be prevented from on-line registration since our computer system will have no way of knowing that you meet the pre-requisite(s). Visiting students often come back to us each summer and may need to transfer in credits again. When you transfer credits to us you do not lose your credits at your home school. Credits taken at any institution remain a part of your academic history at that institution. To find out more about transferring credits, click here: Find out how you can transfer credits..
