The Most Frequently Asked Questions by New Students
1. When do classes start?
Fall classes begin the first week of September and end in mid-December. In October,
students may register for the spring semester, which begins in January. Two
summer sessions are also offered but beware; they are condensed and fast-paced.
2. How will I find my classes?
Your schedule will arrive in the mail with your bill. It will contain the names
of your instructors and classroom numbers. For the main campus, there is a map
in the back of your handbook to help you with the lay out. Many students find
it helpful to visit the campus and practice a walk-through before classes begin.
3. How do I get my books?
You can take your schedule to the bookstore where the required books are tagged
by course and section number. You
can also buy books online. There is a used book sale at the bookstore the
week before each new semester begins.
4. How can I get my student ID?
Take a copy of your schedule to the library and get your picture taken and your
ID card will be made while you wait.
5. How will my teachers know about my disability and accommodations?
At the beginning of the semester, pick up your accommodation letters from the
Special Service Assistant in Room 1325 of the Career and Counseling Center,
located on the first floor of the Academic Building. It is your responsibility
to talk to your instructors and make the arrangements. Students experiencing
problems should contact the Director of Special
Needs Services.
6. What will happen if I miss classes?
Students, who miss more than the number of class meetings that occur in one
week may, on the recommendation of the teacher, be dropped from the class. Be
on time. Instructors are authorized to refuse to admit students who are late
to class.
