Description

Please Note: The current version of the GED test expires in December of 2013. If you have not completely passed this version of the test by December 18, 2013, your scores will be void and you will have to start over again with the new computerized version of the GED test beginning in January of 2014. The new test will be $120 for the full test and $30 for each retest. There will be four subjects instead of five as they are combining the Reading and Writing into one test. If it is not essential for you to have your GED by the end of this year it is highly recommended that you wait for the new test so that you don't have the pressure of passing it within the next two months.

The GED test is a 9-hour test given over TWO consecutive days. The full GED test is given twice a month year-round with start times of 10 a.m. or 4:30 p.m. Check-in begins a half hour prior to the testing time. The registration deadline for any given test is preferred by the Friday of the week PRIOR to the week of the testing date by no later than 3:30 p.m. The cost of the GED test is $95 and is due at the time of registration, payable in any format.

Only PA residents are eligible to take the GED test in PA. A current PA state photo ID or a current PA driver's license is required AND a current piece of OFFICIAL mail to verify PA residency such as a cell phone bill, bank statement, pay stub, voter registration card, address on your checks for your checking account, etc. - it may NOT be a piece of junk mail. A current passport is also an acceptable form of photo ID; however, TWO pieces of official mail are required because there is no address on the passport. Other documentation is required if the applicant is 16 or 17 years of age. Please contact the Assessment Center at 610-359-5322 if you have any questions or for further information. The GED Hotline is also available at 610-359-7373.
