Table-top Narratives features 31 oil paintings created by Gutman, a Professor of Studio Art and Art History and the A.F.A. Program Coordinator at Delaware County Community College. In each painting, she’s replaced the human figure with various surrogate dolls, figurines and statues. These include classical sculptures, historical icons and pop culture figures such as Barbie and Mr. Potato Head.

“Often, my work employs a wide range of popular imagery from disparate sources within a post-modern medley of fun,” she says. “I have a great time and often a good chuckle while setting up my still-life scenarios.  Perception and the wondrous act of seeing and painting are always of prime concern to me.”
