Salary: A minimum starting salary of $58,314 and a comprehensive and competitive fringe benefit package are provided.
RequirementsThe ideal candidate must have a Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school; minimum of two years’ experience in an academic library is required. A background in health services, strong knowledge of technology, ability to work well with a diverse library staff and community college constituency, and strong teaching skills are desired. The successful candidate will be service-oriented, exhibit a positive attitude, and good communication and interpersonal skills; must be team-oriented and committed to professional development.
Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity is accepting applications for a Reference Librarian in the health sciences area. The successful candidate will be appointed to a full-time, tenure-track, 10-month faculty position.
The College, founded in 1967, is an accredited, associate degree-granting institution of higher education serving Delaware and Chester counties. It is the seventh largest post-secondary institution in undergraduate enrollment in the Greater Philadelphia region, serving nearly 27,000 credit and non-credit students annually with a comprehensive array of programs, including computer-based and distance-learning classes.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to staffing the reference services in accordance to scheduling needs, helping patrons in the general use of the library materials and accessing online information resources; serves as the liaison to nursing and allied health department, including collection development for these areas; participates in instruction of Information Literacy skills and support of classroom library needs both in person and using video conferencing technology; assists in providing and delivering services to satellite campus sites; creates library materials both in print and electronic such as handouts, guides, tutorials, etc. to enhance learning; actively participates in teamwork activities; performs other library-related duties as needed.
