Requirements

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years work experience as an executive chef, sous chef or chef in a leadership position; Current professional certification by American Culinary Federation (ACF) or other professional culinary organization is a plus; Must be ServSafe Certified; Successful experience teaching culinary arts in a community college or equivalent teaching experience is preferred; Strong interpersonal skills are a must, as are the abilities to work well on teams and to communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and external constituencies; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse community of traditional students and adult learners in a hands-on laboratory teaching environment; Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

Description

Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity invites applications for a Program Manager in Culinary Arts for our Business and Computer Information Systems Department.

The Program Manager will provide administrative leadership and teach 2- 3 courses per semester as the division begins a new Culinary Arts program starting in Fall of 2012.   The successful candidate for this administrative position will work with a partnership in Chester County to deliver courses covering a range of cuisines and contemporary culinary topics. The Program Manager must be committed to excellence in teaching as well as evidence a thorough understanding of curriculum development, competency-based education, differentiated instruction, diverse learning styles, classroom technologies, and distance learning. In addition, the applicant should be willing to participate in active service to the department, the division, and the College, and must be committed to achieving academic excellence, valuing and appreciating diversity, and fostering a spirit of collaboration. The position is based primarily in Chester County, PA, with possible teaching assignments at other campus locations. It requires working flexible hours, including evenings.
