Planned Giving with the Educational Foundation

There are many ways of supporting Delaware County Community College and preserving its future.

Some of our alumni and other friends have found that they can do more for the College than they ever thought possible by considering planned gifts and other flexible giving options. Many of these giving vehicles offer attractive benefits, such as lifetime income for you or a loved one as well as tax savings for you and your beneficiaries.

Our staff members are here to work with you and your advisors to determine the giving option that works best for you and the College.

Here are some choices to consider:

Requests

You can provide for a future gift to the College by naming us in your will. You may leave the College a specific amount, a percentage of your estate or the residue (the portion remaining after other obligations have been satisfied). Your bequest may be unrestricted or directed to a special project or program of importance to you.

Retirement plan

You may name the College as the beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k) or other qualified retirement plan. Your retirement plan may name the College as the non-profit beneficiary of the residue of your estate after other obligations have been met.

Life insurance

You may make a future gift to the College by naming us the owner and beneficiary of your life insurance policy. You’ll receive a charitable contribution deduction for the value of the policy. When the policy matures, the proceeds will go to the College.

Charitable gift annuities

With a charitable gift annuity, you make a gift that benefits you now and the College later. To establish the annuity, you make an irrevocable gift to the College. Then the College, in turn, provides you (and another beneficiary, if you choose) a guaranteed fixed income for life. The College receives the principal of the annuity once the contract ends.

Charitable remainder trust

Like a gift annuity, a charitable remainder trust gives you the opportunity to make a substantial gift while maintaining a secure income. When you make a gift to establish a charitable remainder trust, you (or a loved one) receive(s) income for life, or a fixed number of years, as well as important tax benefits. At the end of the term of the trust, the College receives the remainder of the trust.

The staff of the College’s Educational Foundation are happy to work with you to plan a gift that fits your situation, your financial needs and your giving objectives.
